Interior design, Ford Focus RS
Tragic day yesterday. Harlequins, the rugby side I support, were beaten in the play-offs for the Guinness Premiership final. Old rivals London Irish knocked us out. So, all a bit downcast last night. But, as my son Matt, and fellow Quins supporter, said quite philosophically: “Look, don’t forget, it was great just to get to this stage. It was only four seasons ago we were playing National One rugby.” Good point.
Today, Sunday, the sun is out but unfortunately there’s plenty of work to do so I’m at the laptop and my wife and co-director, Alison, is at the drawing board. Alison is studying to gain an interior design and decoration qualification from KLC School of Design in south-west London’s Chelsea Harbour. She plans to set up a new business once she’s qualified six weeks from now. Until then, she has a huge project to be getting on with.
I also spoke to our road tester Sam Hardy this morning. Sam, who works for Auto Express, has a Ford Focus RS on test over two months. I expressed my a) jealousy that he had one (!), and b) admiration for the car. We both agreed that what was most appealing about the Focus RS was its sheer usability.
“It’s got fantastic performance – despite this I’m still getting 25-30mpg. And you don’t have to drive it fast to enjoy it. That’s the real beauty of this car,” explained Sam. “With other cars I’ve had, like the Mitsubishi Evo, it was a bit flat unless you were driving it hard. The Focus RS is completely the opposite. It’s a great all-round car.”
