BMW’s 3 Series Touring benefits from the business-friendly EfficientDynamics treatment at last

BMW has announced a series of engine updates for the 3 Series Touring estate. The big highlight for company car drivers is the arrival of a business-friendly 320d EfficientDynamics model.

The 320d EfficientDynamics saloon (read our road test) is already a big hit thanks to its unmatched blend of perky performance combined with low fuel consumption and emissions.

The Touring shares the saloon’s healthy power output of 163 PS and is available with either a six-speed manual gearbox or an eight-speed automatic. Both achieve 65.7mpg and 112g/km, and acceleration from rest to 62mph takes just 8.3 seconds.

Other new options for the 3 Series Touring include a 325d with a 218 PS twin-turbo four-cylinder diesel, a 1.6-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol 316i with 136 PS, and a range-topping 335i with a twin-turbo petrol straight six developing 306 PS.

The BMW 3 Series Touring is also being offered for the first time in the UK with BMW’s xDrive four-wheel drive system, although this transmission can’t be combined with the EfficientDynamics package.

Prices for the 320d EfficientDynamics Touring start at £29,710, while the 316i is available from £26,495. The 3-Series xDrive Touring range starts with the petrol-engined 320i at £29,030.
