Presentation at GE’s Future of Fleet Conference
IT WAS out of the house early this morning at 0630. I’ve been asked to do a presentation at a fleet conference organised by the leasing division of GE Capital. Which is very flattering.
I’ve been asked to speak to lots of fleet managers from large companies about what they can learn from small businesses. So fingers crossed it all goes OK! Nothing like a bit of banging the drum for small businesses.
Nerves aside, it was wonderfully reassuring to drive up in the Audi. The A6 takes care of you so well, from the courtesy lighting when you unlock the doors – I particularly like the pools of light from the door mirrors, so subtle – to the sat nav (I knew where I was going but useful in case of taffic jams ahead) and not forgetting the heated seats.
I’ve also started practising eco-driving. It’s something we’ve been talking about with Craig McCall, the trainer from DriveTech Advantage who is coaching my son Matt for his driving test. Talking of which, it’s Matt’s test today. So good luck to him!
Eco-driving. It means being more alert, smoother with your driving because you’re thinking further ahead (which should also make you safer). Instead of going at ‘motorway’ speeds I now travel at the speed limit – it saves fuel (up to 20%) and only takes minutes more. The Audi averaged over 50mpg for the journey. Not bad for a big car. Overall fuel economy is 43mpg.
