Story: MATT MORTON

WHAT’S your idea of the best company car for your SME business?

And what would you look for from a car manufacturer in terms of finance for your company cars?

That’s what we’re planning to find out here at businessmotoring.co.uk with the launch of the Business Car Manager SME Company Car of the Year Awards.

We want to find the best on the market – to save all you small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) having to search for the best company cars for your business and the best small business support programmes.

There are 10 categories, and car makers can enter seven which will be judged by the independent Business Car Manager awards panel.

They are:

Most Cost-Efficient Car for an SME to buy

  • Qualifying cars must have CO2 emissions of 95g/km and below to qualify for new 100% writing down allowance tax break. Last year’s similar category winner was the BMW 320d EfficientDynamics.

Most Cost-Efficient Car for an SME Company Car Driver

  • Qualifying cars must be low in CO2 emissions for reduced company car tax exposure and fuel expenditure. Last year’s similar category winner was the Kia Rio EcoDynamics 1.1 CRDi.

Best Company Car for SME Directors

  • Qualifying cars must be prestigious but tax-efficient. Last year’s winner was the BMW 520d EfficientDynamics

Best Company Car for SME Business Owners

  • Qualifying cars must confer status but might equally be acquired through the company or run privately, so CO2 emissions aren’t the be-all. Practicality is useful. Last year’s similar category winner was the Range Rover Evoque.

Best Company Car for SME Drivers

  • Qualifying cars must be good to drive, practical, offer low running costs and company car tax while also offering user-chooser appeal. Last year’s winner was the Ford Focus 1.0t EcoBoost.

Best Finance and Service Package for SMEs

  • We’re looking for the most compelling and comprehensive finance and service offer to the SME market.

Best SME Company Car Programme

  • What it says on the tin: does your company have the best all-round package for SMEs? If so, you need to enter.

Best Company Car for SMEs – Readers’ Choice

  • The most researched car for company car tax on our website by Business Car Manager readers.

Best Overall Company Car for SMEs

  • The judges’ pick of the best all-rounder from the five car categories that can be entered.

SME Champion Manufacturer

  • The car manufacturer which, in the opinion of the judges, provides the best all round blend of company cars and support to the SME sector.
