Audi hopes that next week, one of its RS7 Sportback can take on the Hockenheim circuit driverless

IF you think handsfree driving for your company car fleet is a distant dream, think again!

That’s because Audi hopes to prove next week that one of its RS 7 Sportbacks can take on the Hockenheim race circuit entirely without a human driver.

Audi will use the prestigious DTM German Touring Car race finale, to stage one of the most extreme driving demonstrations possible and show business car managers a glimpse of the future for their company car driving employees.

With the latest Audi developments on board, the concept car will drive completely autonomously at the DTM finale on October 19 (right).

Audi claims the technology will allow the RS 7 Sportback concept car to lap just about as fast as if there were a professional racing driver at the wheel.

Tests conducted so far indicate that on the Grand Prix track a lap time of just over two minutes can be expected with the hi-tech demonstrator reaching speeds of up to 149mph.

The performance will be broadcast live and exclusively on the Internet on October 19 at 12:45 pm on Audi MediaTV.
