  • 200 standalone optional features to go
  • Cruise and rear parking sensors to be standard across range
  • Changes to commence with Audi A4 MY 2018

IF you wanted ultimate niche personalisation for your next Audi company car – well, then hard luck.

But if you want your next Audi lease car to include such items as cruise control and rear parking sensors as part of the package – well, then, you must be feeling lucky.

That’s because Audi has unveiled a new “simplified and consistent” approach to its vehicle model ranges that includes line-up rationalisation and fewer option choices. So no chance for that ultimate Alcantara seat finish of your own colour choice with contrasting stitching.

Instead, Matt Rance, Audi’s A6 and A7 product manager, unveiled at a recent seminar held by the fleet manager’s organsiation ACFO that the brand wanted its product range to be “easier to comprehend”. In other words, Audi range simplification.

With the advent of 2018 model year cars from June 2017, he said the company car favourite Audi A4 model would be repositioned with specification enhancements, while cruise control and rear-parking sensors would be standard across the Audi range from A1 upwards.

Meanwhile, Audi range simplification and rationalisation would start with the A4 and A6 and more than 200 standalone options across ranges would be removed “to make choice easier”.
