IF you’re currently running an older car and thinking of upgrading then the recently announced BMW Group Lower Emissions Allowance may be of interest.
BMW Group has announced the new incentive scheme targeting Euro-4 emissions compliant cars and older. Essentially, if you are currently running a car that complies with the older Euro-4 emissions standards you could get an additional £2,000 off the price of a brand new BMW or MINI.
Unfortunately it won’t be available if you want a Rolls Royce but we can’t have everything.
For those who don’t want a Rolls and are thinking of car leasing then it means you could drive away in a new BMW from around £150 per month on a car lease rental, and a new MINI from around £130 per month rental.
The scheme applies to anyone trading in an older car against any BMW or MINI with emissions below 130g/km before the end of December 2017. The allowance is on top of any other incentives that may be on offer so this could be a good time to take advantage.
To qualify you need to trade-in your old car – it doesn’t matter what it is – against either an all-electric car, a plug-in hybrid, or a Euro-6 standard car with emissions below the magic 130g/km mark.
That means you can choose from around 80% of the BMW range and almost 70% of the MINI range. Cars that qualify for the new incentive include the BMW i3 and i8, all BMW iPerformance models, and the MINI Countryman PHEV.
Even if your lifestyle doesn’t currently comply with an all-electric or hybrid car you can still take advantage of the incentive as long as you stick within the 130g/km limit.
Graeme Grieve, CEO of BMW Group UK, has said: “BMW offers the widest range of low emission vehicles of any manufacturer. We were the first premium marque to make a clear commitment to electric mobility and having a range of sustainable mobility options too. We know in the early phases that people still need some incentive to make the jump to fully electric or plug-in hybrid vehicles and that is why we are delighted to announce this new allowance. For those who the alternative drivetrains do not suit their lifestyle we still offer allowance qualifying Euro-6 compliant petrol and diesel engine cars that are cleaner than ever.”
