Simple steps to make cleaning your car quick and effective

This content has been provided on behalf of Simple Solutions

REGULAR cleaning is the best way to keep your car looking at its best, and having a clean car is particularly important if you are driving for business.

Wearing your best suit and looking smart when you head to visit a client or customer is all well and good, but if you arrive in a dirty vehicle, your professional appearance might take a bit of a knock.

Before you next head out on the roads for business, make sure that your car is in pristine condition by following these top car cleaning tips, and you can always drive and arrive in style.

What you need

 Having the right products to hand will help you to achieve a professional finish when cleaning your car, but it needn’t be expensive to get the kit that you need. Here’s a checklist of a few car cleaning essentials;

  • Bucket of warm water.
  • Car shampoo.
  • Cleaning cloths, a sponge and a chamois leather.
  • Hose/Pressure washer.
  • Additional cleaning products such as polish, wax, windscreen cleaner and wheel cleaner.
  • Vacuum for interior cleaning.

Top tips for a sparkling finish

It really isn’t necessary to pay to put your car through a car wash or to have it professionally valeted. As long as you have the kit mentioned above and a shady, spacious spot in which to wash your car, you can easily clean your vehicle at home or at the office.

Keep these tips in mind as you wash your car and a vehicle which sparkles and shines will be only a few steps away.

  • Before you start, remember that you will need to access all sides of your vehicle, and remember that if you are using a hose your reach may be limited.
  • If you are cleaning your car during the summer, try to avoid doing so on particularly sunny days, as brilliant direct sunlight will cause your car’s bodywork to dry too quickly, leading to drip marks and smears.
  • Always work from top to bottom when cleaning your car to avoid dirty water running down and ruining your handiwork.
  • Invest in a high quality microfibre cloth which will be much more effective at picking up dust and grime than a conventional cloth.
  • Once you have cleaned and dried your car, run you finger along the paintwork. If you feel a residue beneath your finger, the surface is still dirty. Professionals use a clay bar to remove these last contaminants and get that showroom shine.
  • Don’t forget the interior of your car. Hoover the carpets and freshen up the seats using car upholstery cleaner before adding a new air freshener to leave your interior smelling sweet.
  • Apply car wax to your bodywork after cleaning. Waxing is designed to add a layer of protection to the paintwork which will help to guard against wear and tear when you are out and about.
  • Keep your car looking good every day by keeping car cleaning wipes to hand for clearing up any spillages whilst you are driving.

There you have it – all of the tips you need to get your company car looking as professional as possible. Follow this advice and you will always make the right impression when you are out and about on the roads.
