FORD has announced the fastest 1.0-litre engined mainstream production cars ever, with two special editions of the popular Fiesta – the Zetec S Red and Black Edition models.
The two cars use a new, uprated 140 PS version of Ford’s 1.0-litre EcoBoost petrol engine, which Ford says delivers more power per litre than the Bugatti Veyron.
The figures are impressive – acceleration from rest to 62 mph in 9.2 seconds and a top speed of 125 mph, paired with a combined consumption of 62.8 mpg and CO2 emissions of 104 g/km.
The new cars look the part too, with their two-tone bodywork; Black Edition models have a red roof and Red Edition models have a black roof.
