KIA had a busy Geneva Motor Show revealing a number of new models, including the public debut of the Picanto supermini headlined by the GT-Line Picanto flagship.

The new look Picanto boasts bolder styling, that brings it inline with the rest of the range. Highlights include Kia’s family tiger-nose grille, headlights and taillights with LED technology and more opportunity to personalise with the choice of 11 exterior colours and five different styles of alloy wheels. There’s even a sportier GT-Line range-topper.

Inside, Kia claim the Picanto now has a high-tech, high-quality cabin. Certainly there’s more soft-touch plastics and – like the bigger and recently launched Rio – a floating touch-screen infotainment system on the top of the centre console and even a built-in inductive mobile phone charger. Like the exterior, the interior can also be personalised with a range of interior colour packs to choose from.

Picanto now boasts more interior space and a class-leading 255-litre boot. It should be more fun to drive and quieter too, with Kia engineers working on both the handling and NVH (noise, vibration and harshness). There’s also the choice of the new 100PS 1.0-litre T-GDI engine, alongside the other 1.25-litre petrol.

Prices and specs haven’t been announced, but the Picanto will go on sale in the UK this May.
