Mercedes-Benz has unveiled a lightly facelifted G-class.
It will appear at the Beijing motor show later this month and is on sale in the UK in June with a number of subtle exterior styling tweaks, a new range of engines and updated gearbox, refreshed interior and new electronic driver aids.
The newcomer is immediately distinguished by a restyled grille with standard models receiving three prominent slats in place of the older model’s seven slats, new headlamp inserts with horizontally mounted LED running light, mirror housings, altered tail lamp graphics and a new line of alloys.
Alongside standard G500 and G350 BlueTec models, Mercedes has also introduced a G55 AMG-replacing G63 AMG as well as a rapid G65 AMG performance flagship. All are assembled at Mercedes-Benz partner Magna’s factory in Graz, Austria.
The MB G-Class has always been a firm favourite with serious off-road business car drivers but some company car management are not in favour of putting a 4WD on their fleet and fear excessive damage.
