New Fiat Panda 4×4 arrives

The 4×4 Panda has been around for a while, and now it’s being brought to the UK. The Trekking version retains the rugged look, without the (modest) company car tax penalties imposed by 4WD.

PRICES have been announced for the new Fiat Panda 4×4. The range starts at £13,950 for the only petrol option, the two-cylinder 0.9 TwinAir and rises to £14,950 for the only other engine option, the 1.3-litre MultiJet diesel.

Company car drivers who like the rugged look of the Panda 4×4 but don’t need four-wheel drive can opt for the cosmetically similar but less expensive front-wheel drive Trekking models, which cost £12,450 for the TwinAir petrol and £13,450 for the MultiJet diesel – and deliver better economy and CO2 emissions.

As well as permanent four-wheel drive the Panda 4×4 gets body-coloured off-road-style bumpers with an aluminium-finished skid-plate, roof rails, side mouldings with a ‘4×4’ logo, black wheel arches and side skirts, 15-inch dark alloy wheels and raised suspension for better ground clearance.

Inside, the Panda 4×4 has twin-coloured seats, door panels in coloured “eco-leather”, and a gloss black instrument surround. The two-wheel drive Trekking models get most of the same trim and equipment as the 4x4s, but with a black skid-plate instead of aluminium, and lighter-coloured alloy wheels.

The TwinAir petrol Panda 4×4 has a combined fuel consumption of 57.6 mpg (61.4 mpg for the equivalent front-wheel drive Trekking model) and emits 114 g/km (105 g/km) of CO2. The diesel 4×4 achieves 60.1 mpg (67.3mpg for the Trekking) and 125 g/km (109 g/km).
