SEEMS like Volkswagen were on a roll at Geneva 2015, as the recently launched Passat won the coveted 2015 Car Of The Year crown. Plus, they had one of the most stylish concept cars to debut at the show – the new Sport Coupe GTE concept.

Familiar yet different is probably the best way to describe the Sport GTE concept’s exterior. From the front, we like the way the lines of the lights merge into the family grille. At the rear, is it us, or is there some Audi A7 styling in those rear quarters. No bad thing, as the A7 is a seriously stylish, high-end hatch.
The good news according to a Volkswagen source, is that if you liked the last CC, there’s a good chance that this concept will form the basis of the next one.
Longer, wider and lower than the old CC, the Sport Coupe GTE concept is also showcasing a plug-in hybrid system that Volkswagen is evaluating for future models. Based around a 295bhp, 3.0-litre V6 petrol engine, it works in combination with two electric motors in the front and rear of the car giving an extra 114bhp in total.
