The ingenious Toyota iQ city car will cost from £9495 when it goes on sale in January.

Measuring under 3m in length, the Toytoa iQ is designed to carry up to four people.

The Toyota iQ is powered by a 1.0-litre engine that produces 99g/km. It means the iQ will qualify for the low-emission 10% company car tax band. And 100% first year writing down allowance.

There will be two trim levels: iQ and iQ2.

While the iQ is small, the standard equipment list is big. iQ spec includes 15-inch alloy wheels; heated electrically adjustable door mirrors; air con; and six speaker audio with auxiliary socket.

Standard safety features are: anti-lock ABS brakes; anti-skid stability control; and nine airbags – including a world-first rear window airbag.

Additional accessory packs – iStyle, iSports, iUrban – allow for further individualisation. Costs range from £250-£400. Satnav is a £950 option.

For ultimate ease of urban use, there will be a continuously variable transmission auto model available. It’s called Multidrive. The auto increases CO2 to 110g/km, but still within the 10% company-provided business car tax band.
