456 - BCA speeds up the action

I RECEIVED a call from BCA's affable PR man Tim Naylor on Friday afternoon. It's usually a good sign when Tim phones on Friday, and there was no change in the modus operandi on this day.
Tim was calling to let me know that the auction company had made some changes to its website. Actually it's made some fundamental changes to the website, which helps both buyers of used cars and those companies or individuals that want to sell their cars.
"The changes in the appearance are subtle," Tim explained. "But it's under the hood that we've made the big change. We've made it quicker and a much better experience."
It's true. I've had a quick look and the pages load so much faster. There's an all-new BCA stock locator, catalogue and pricing service, too. Have a look yourself: www.british-car-auctions.co.uk.
If you're small business wants to sell its company cars, either because you're moving to contract hire or buying new models, then an auction is a good way to sell them quickly - and you avoid holding costs, such as depreciation and potential minor damage the longer you hold onto vehicles.
Talking of which, BCA has just sold the fastest production car in the world when it was launched - the Bugatti Veyron. With 1001hp, the mid-engined supercar has a top speed in excess of 400km/h: over 248mph!
Not only is the Bugatti the fastest car BCA has sold, it's also the most expensive. The 2006 Bugatti Veyron EB 16.4 fetched a staggering £625,000 in a recent 'Fast and Furious' sale of specialist cars.
Perhaps more attainable was a VW Golf V6 R32 for £9,500; a Ford Focus RS for £25,200; a BMW 318 CI SE for £13,800; and an Audi TT FSi Convertible for £22,600. Highly desirable cars all; even if not in the supercar league of the Bugatti.
