Design model offers better spec, lower price

New Vauxhall Corsa 1.4 Design 5dr: expert view

What is it?

The latest version of one of the UK's best-selling superminis. There are improvements in handling, interior quality, and a more stylish look. It delivers on Vauxhall's promise of building more exciting cars.

You'll be quids in because

It is cheaper than the outgoing model. More than this, the Design has been repositioned within the model line up. It now has a higher specification. We think that will mean better residual values, too. After three years we think it will retain 38% of its new car price.

You'll need deep pockets because

Well, actually you won't. Because Vauxhall isn't offering the big up-front discounts that it did with the last model. This means it will have better used values. Over the life of the car it should cost you less.

What you need to Know

P11D value:£11,807
Monthly rental*:£221
Monthly BiK:£32 (22%) / £59 (40%)
*Monthly rental costs from HSBC Vehicle Finance based on 36-month contract hire agreement with maintenance and no relief vehilce.

The Bottom Line

Larger, safer and better equipped than ever. The Corsa is no longer the budget choice in a very competitive sector.
