Ford Transit Custom
The new Ford Transit Custom gets a boost from residuals experts CAP

Story: DAVID WILKINS

FORD’S Transit Custom – which replaces the smaller one-tonne versions of the current Transit – has been given the thumbs-up by CAP, with the residuals experts forecasting that the new model will score a 10.5 per cent improvement in resale values compared with the old one on a three-year/60,000 mile basis.

Handy for SMEs that run a mix of vans and cars.

The Transit Custom has already won its first gong in the form of the 2013 International Van of the Year award – now the new model has a hardening business case to add to a stack of favourable reviews that have praised plus points such as its car-like driving qualities and comfortable cabin.

UK Ford boss Mark Ovenden said: “This is a more stylish and more functional Transit, which also manages to reward owners by retaining more of its value. Thanks to this latest endorsement by CAP, we’re even more convinced that our new Transit Custom will continue the vehicle’s market leading position.”

The Transit Custom, available from UK dealers this autumn, is just one of four all-new vans expected from Ford over the next year or two. A new full-size Transit, to be sold in North America for the first time, will slot into the range above the Transit Custom, and for small businesses and SMEs who need something a bit smaller, there will be new Transit Connect and Courier models as well.
