AS a manager or supervisor, it’s your responsibility to give the same level of care to workers who drive on company business as you would to any other health and safety issues at work.

To ensure that your employees are aware of how to stay safe on the roads, you may want to consider enrolling them on a driving awareness course. Expert training providers such as Phoenix HSC offer comprehensive online courses designed to provide drivers with the information they need to identify the risks of the road.

A crucial part of road safety is vehicle maintenance. Not only will keeping your vehicle in good working order help to ensure your worker’s safety, it will also save you from costly auto repairs and prevent unnecessary breakdowns. To ensure the safe operation of your vehicle, here’s a few car care tips:

Tyres

As a rule of thumb, you should examine your tyres every other day for pressure and every week for wear. Using a gauge, check that your tires are properly inflated according to the manufacturer’s pressure guidelines. If the wear indicators are showing between the treads, or your tyres are excessively worn, you will need to replace them.

Oil

To maximise the vehicle’s engine efficiency, check the oil level at least once a month. Regularly changing the oil and filter will also help the engine to last longer. Depending on driving conditions, manufacturers usually recommend changing the oil every 3,000 to 7,500 miles.
