CONGRATULATIONS to ŠKODA fleet team’s top cyclist Matthew Exley – who is now a yellow jersey holder!
With the Tour de France in full swing, big time cycling sponsor, ŠKODA, has once again showed its commitment to the sport by sending 12 fleet staff and customers on a gruelling 300-mile ride from London to Paris.
As we reported last month, this is the third consecutive year ŠKODA has completed the challenging cycle event – entering three teams for 2014.
This year, one of the three teams finished third overall, while Matthew Exley, a ŠKODA team rider, took home the yellow jersey for finishing first overall.
ŠKODA used the event to raise money for Cancer Research UK, The Fire Fighters Association and Willen Hospice – a local charity based in Milton Keynes.
Like the professional riders in the Tour de France, the three Skoda fleet teams had extensive backup in the form of mechanical support along the ride.
The Volkswagen-owned car maker provided a fleet of ŠKODA Octavia estate and Skoda Superb estate cars to lead each group and transport a 260-strong crew of mechanics, marshals, outriders and sports therapists across the three-stage event.
