Traffic congestion is on the rise. So say 80% of UK businesses.

More than 70% say congestion is making business journeys less effective.

These are the findings of a survey of over 300 businesses by Europcar. They come at time when businesses are concerned about a faltering economy; and the escalating cost of fuel.

More than a quarter of businesses believe that up to 30% of every journey is spent in traffic congestion.

David McNeill, Europcar corporate sales director, said: “Congestion is clearly having an impact on the nation’s economic profitability at a time when businesses are really under pressure to be as cost-effective and efficient as possible.

“We must all take responsibility to identify the ways in which we can reduce congestion on our over-stressed road network.

“The survivors will be those that tighten their belts and explore the options to work as efficiently as possible.”
