Vauxhall OnStar upgraded

  • Vauxhall OnStar adds further convenience features to menu
  • Remote satnav destination setting via My Vauxhall app and OnStar
  • Additional comments and photo enhancements for Vehicle Location function
  • Safety features include emergency services alert in the event of a crash

VAUXHALL’S OnStar connectivity now upgraded lets you plan your next trip on your smartphone and load the destination straight into the car’s satnav from your armchair or office desk.

Using the innovative OnStar personal connectivity and service assistant together with the latest version of the My Vauxhall app, drivers can simply enter the destination on their smartphone and send it to their car at the push of a button.

Addresses can also be added through the smartphone’s address book, making the process quick and easy.

The latest updates to the My Vauxhall app mean that drivers can now add useful comments to the Vehicle Location function, and even a photo, so forgetting where you have parked will never be an issue. To help avoid parking fines, My Vauxhall users can even set a timer to remind them when their parking ticket is about to expire.

Need the nearest filling station or burger bar? With Vauxhall’s OnStar now upgraded you simply press the button and ask, and one of the team at Luton  covering the whole of Europe will guide you there – no fiddling about trying to load postcodes. And that applies where ever you are in Europe, with the assistant speaking your language.

Vauxhall OnStar makes driving more convenient and ensures excellent connectivity. Featuring friendly advisors instead of machines, the OnStar “guardian angel” automatically responds to crashes – sensors can detect the severity of an impact and emergency services alerted accordingly. And it helps locate stolen vehicles.

The unique service also remotely unlocks doors, downloads destinations directly to the vehicle factory installed navigation system, sends emails on vehicle health and offers a 4G/LTE Wi-Fi hotspot.

Mike Lee, Vauxhall’s head of OnStar strategy and planning, said: “Vauxhall OnStar is already popular with our customers and this latest update only makes Vauxhall’s connected services even stronger.

“With the new Send Destination function and the helpful enhancements to Vehicle Location, the latest My Vauxhall smartphone app offers OnStar users more convenience and even greater peace of mind.”

Remote control via the My Vauxhall app is the most popular feature of OnStar. In addition to sending destinations to the satnav system, app users can locate the vehicle and lock or unlock the doors from their smartphone.

To help find the car in a crowded car park, My Vauxhall users can honk the horn and flash the lights at the push of a button. They can additionally call up important data such as oil life or tyre pressures, while the app also allows users to manage the car’s Wi-Fi hotspot, connecting up to seven devices in and around the vehicle.

Android and iOS smartphone users can download the My Vauxhall app from Google Play Store and the App Store. Free for the first year, OnStar is expected to cost around £80 a year initially for subsequent years.
