Daily rental provides flexible mobility

Daily rental is the provision of a vehicle – car or van – on a temporary basis. The period can range from one day up to six months – longer if necessary. The longer the rental period, the more competitive the rental rate.

So what’s included in the rate? Unlimited mileage, road tax, 24-hour roadside assistance and VAT – but no fuel. You can insure the car under your company’s own insurance or take the rental provider’s insurance cover.

What types of vehicles can be rented? Almost any type of vehicle can be rented – car, van, specialist or prestige. However the rental company will need to conduct a driving licence check to ensure that the driver is entitled to drive that class of vehicle – as well as licence penalties.

Can I book a specific vehicle? Rental providers group vehicles by type and engine size, so rather than booking a specific make or model, you book a vehicle group. This does not apply to bookings for prestige and specialist vehicles.

Can we have the vehicle delivered? Yes, all good vehicle rental companies should provide a nationwide delivery and collection service.

How could my business use vehicle rental? Vehicle rental provides flexibility. It enables small businesses to respond to short and medium-term demands without the burden of a longer term contract. It’s a similar concept to using temporary staff cover.

Daily rental is ideal to get employees to and from meetings, for example. For short-term contract or seasonal demand, vehicle rental allows a business to upscale its fleet quickly. And keep its financial exposure to a minimum.

It also helps support duty of care, by giving staff access to quality vehicles fit for their purpose.
