Blog: RALPH MORTON
I WAS talking to my table companion, John Lewis, at the ACFO awards last week.
John is, so to speak, on ‘run out’.
After many years as the face and voice of the British Vehicle Rental and Leasing Association (BVRLA) as their chief exec, John is standing down after 13 years in the spring of 2013.
Although, the BVRLA board has asked John to stay on to ensure a smooth hand over.
I had to ask, though: any news on a successor? John, diplomat as ever, said that there were some strong internal candidates but that the BVRLA was also casting its net wider via executive search firm Courland International.
“The important thing to do is find the best candidate to take the association forward, and harness all the views of the many different companies the BVRLA now represents, from leasing companies to car clubs, and all mobility solutions in between.”
It’s an important job and one that John has done very well – the bar is set high for his successor.
