134 – Harlequins beat Gloucester

Share

23 February 2009

OK. I know this is a bit self-indulgent. But it was a beautiful early spring afternoon. And I witnessed a great match between two very evenly matched sides. And as regular readers know I am a Harlequins season ticket holder.

And on Saturday Harlequins overcame Gloucester – premiership leaders – with a winning try in the final minutes of the game.

We also witnessed a mesmerising try from Nick Evans, the Quins fly half that was truly top-drawer.

It means Harlequins, in successive Saturdays, has beaten both of the teams at the top of the table. I’ve never seen Quins play with such force of purpose; and sheer mental strength. Clearly Quins’s coach Dean Richards is working his magic.

As you can imagine, it was a deliriously happy Saturday evening.
