136 – Back at the wheel

Share

26 February 2009

My office isn’t far from home. So usually I walk or cycle. But I take the Audi A4 when there’s a business trip required.

But recently it had all been local meetings. Until last week, when I had a chance to travel down to Henley.

It was such a pleasure to drive the Audi in earnest again. And make full use of that lusty mid-range that is such a hallmark of the A4’s 143PS diesel engine.

Whenever I have moments like that I think of the 120PS version of the same engine (see news story Low-tax Audi A4 launched).

I’ve driven and tested the car (see road test Audi A4 TDI: lower tax diesel). It is very good. And while owners benefit from a reduced up front cost; and experience the tactile pleasure of Audi driving and the grown up interior; and pay less in company car tax; they lose out on this – that fulsome mid-range gusto.

Enjoyable blast down to Henley
