MAYBE the Italians are getting a little over excited about a tenth world motor cycle championship win for their favourite son but who cares with production of the Abarth 595 Yamaha Factory Racing Edition?
To be fair, the Fiat tune shop is the official sponsor and car supplier to Valentino Rossi’s Movistar Yamaha MotoGP team, but it clearly can barely hide the excitement of the Italian rider’s 18-point lead over Spanish team-mate Jorge Lorenzo with just three races to go in the season.
Created from a partnership with Yamaha, the new edition comes in a choice of seven colours and is packed with sporty features.
Special features include 17-inch matt black alloy wheels, painted brake callipers and optional matching Abarth side stripes and mirror covers, darkened windows, a flat-bottom leather steering wheel, aluminium pedals and a special ‘Yamaha Factory Racing’ badge.

Powered by an upgraded version of Abarth’s potent 1.4-litre T-Jet engine, the 595 Yamaha Factory Racing Edition is further enhanced with a Record Monza exhaust system, Koni shock absorbers with FSD valves and Eibach lowering springs.
Boasting 160hp from the 1.4 T-Jet engine, the special will accelerate to 62mph in just 7.4secs on the way to a top speed of 130mph.
For the company car driver savvy about their benefit in kind tax, it also claims a combined fuel economy of 47.1mpg with CO2 emissions of 139g/km.
“The new 595 Yamaha Factory Racing Edition adds a new dimension to the Abarth 595 line-up” says Gerry Southerington, brand manager, Abarth UK.
“With an upgrade to 160 horsepower, lowered suspension, sporting looks and a great sounding exhaust system, we expect a lot of interest in this car from Abarth enthusiasts and new customers alike.”
