NOW we know why two-time Wimbledon Champion, Andy Murray, hasn’t been seen on the tennis circuit – he’s been driving his new Jaguar I-Pace!

The tennis star promised during WWF’s World Earth Hour to ‘go electric’.  and become one of the world’s first Jaguar I-PACE customers on World Environment Day (June, 06, 2018).

Sir Andy Murray’s switch to Jaguar’s first all-electric performance SUV in March this year, Panasonic Jaguar Racing driver and fellow WWF ambassador, Nelson Piquet Jr, visited the British tennis star at his training camp and made a special delivery ahead of the grass court season.

Andy Murray said:

“It’s important we all take small steps to live a more sustainable life and think about the actions we can make to look after our planet. This is one of the reasons I’m making the switch to driving Jaguar’s new all-electric I-Pace. It’s clean and safe, but also has the world class design and sports performance that suits my lifestyle.”

Nelson Piquet Jr, Panasonic Jaguar Racing driver, said:

“I think it’s brilliant that Andy has made this commitment to go electric and has been vocal in encouraging more people to take action and make little changes to live more sustainably.

“The Jaguar I-Pace is proof that you don’t have to sacrifice power or performance when you switch to electric.”

Jaguar I-Pace – electrifying performance

Andy Murray’s serving is electrifying at the best of times, and so will be the car he is driving.

There’s all-wheel drive performance from twin Jaguar-designed electric motors – which feature driveshafts passing through the motors themselves for compactness – are placed at each axle. The batteries deliver a combined 400PS and 696Nm delivering 0-60mph in a thumping 4.5s.

There is an official range of up to 298 miles on a single charge; with rapid charging hthe I-Pace’s battery can be replenished to 80% in 45 minutes.

As well as this, there’s five-seat SUV practicality so Sir Andy Murray won’t have any problems taking his kit and racquets wherever he wants. But in electric silence.

Pricing of the Jaguar I-Pace starts from £63,495 for the E400 S model.

And although we’re sure Sir Andy won’t have to worry about company car tax, the Jaguar is in the 13% company car tax band.

It will cost a 40% tax payer just £275 a month in benefit in kind company car tax.
