AUDI has launched an interesting new initiative on its 100th anniversary – a hatchback version of the Audi A5.
Called the Sportback, the new A5 joins the Coupe and Cabriolet in an expanded Audi A5 range.
Prices start at £25,440 for a standard A5 Sportback, rising to £36,220 for the Sportline 3.0 TDI model.
The Audi A5 Sportback can be ordered now for October delivery.
There are two petrol models – 2.0 TFSI 211PS and 3.2 FSI 265PS. And two diesel models: a 2.0 TDI 170PS, along with a 3.0 TDI 240PS.
The A5 Sportback is available in Standard, SE and S line trim.
Audi says the hatchback area has virtually the same luggage capacity as an Audi A4 Avant, thanks to a longer wheelbase than the A5 Coupe (2,751mm Coupe versus 2,810mm Sportback).
The rear hatch has a 480 litre capacity with rear seats in place; this expands to 980 litres with the rear seats folded down.
All four-cylinder models feature Audi’s latest fuel-saving technology, including stop-start and energy recuperation – energy originally ‘lost’ from braking is now channelled back into the battery.
Standard specification includes: climate control; CD audio; split folding rear seats and a Driver’s Information System (DIS).
SE models add: full Milano leather upholstery; acoustic parking sensors; and automatic headlight and wiper activation.
S line specification includes exclusive grille and bumper treatments; larger 18-inch alloys; xenon headlamps; LED daytime running lights; and LED rear lights.
There is no information yet on A5 Sportback CO2 emissions or company car tax bands.
