THE Audi Q7 is no longer top of the Audi SUV tree: here comes the new Audi Q8.
The new Q8 is a coupe styled SUV. So still SUV practical but with a big dose of four-door coupe style.
And it remains pretty much the same as the Audi Q8 Concept shown at the Detroit Motor Show in 2017.
The car was revealed in China on June 05, at the second Audi Summit.
The Audi Q8 will go on sale in the UK this summer.
The new Audi Q8 will be powered by a 3.0-litre TDI diesel engine featuring mild hybrid technology (MHEV).
The six-cylinder 286PS 50 TDI is capable of 62mph in 6.3 seconds and a 144mph top speed. Torque is a phenomenal 600Nm. Transmission is quattro four-wheel drive, so secure on the road but able to go off-road too.
The car features a 48 volt electrical system with a rechargeable battery located below the luggage compartment floor. It can store energy to improve fuel consumption along with the ability to ‘coast’ between 34 and 99mph with the engine switched off. The system then restarts the engine quickly when required.
Inside the Q8 there are two high-resolution touch displays. The upper display with 10.1 inch screen is used for controlling the infotainment and the navigation system. The lower 8.6 inch display allows the driver to manage the heating, ventilation and air conditioning as well as comfort functions and text input.
The Q8 will be launched in S line specification, which includes HD Matrix LED lights, 21-inch alloy wheels and adaptive air suspension sport as standard.
This will be followed by a high-end Vorsprung edition which adds Valcona leather, dynamic all-wheel steering, 22-inch alloy wheels, head-up display and a full leather package as standard.
Pricing has yet to be announced. But as a guide, current Q7 pricing runs from £51,425 to £89,905.
