Audi R8 to blitz 200mph barrier
The new Audi is sharper, lighter and more powerful according to the manufacturer

A TOP speed of more than 200mph is being promised with the second generation Audi R8 supercar being unveiled at next week’s Geneva Motor Show.

The mid-mounted V10 producing up to 610PS, giving the car the fastest 0-62mph sprint of any production Audi at 3.2 seconds, on the way to a top speed of 205mph. Part of this performance will come thanks to a weight saving exercise that has shaved 50kg off compared to the old model.

“With the new Audi R8, our engineers are bringing accumulated racing expertise from the race track onto the road. No other model of ours evokes more dynamic emotion.

“Motorsport is in Audi’s genes, it has always been a permanent feature of our brand’s character,” said Dr. Ulrich Hackenberg, board member for technical development at Audi.
