An Audi DAB radio
Thanks to improved UK coverage, Audi has decided to make the big switch to digital radio

AUDI has announced a big digital switchover for the 2014 model year. All Audis, with the exception of the TT and R8, will be factory-fitted with digital DAB radios as standard, giving company car drivers who spend a lot of time on the road a much bigger choice of stations to help them through long journeys. The TT and R8 will make the switch later on.

Audi has decided to make DAB standard after the ratification of a local digital radio coverage agreement between the Government, the BBC and commercial radio broadcasters last year. The improved coverage provided for by the agreement now makes the switch to DAB viable.

Cars with standard DAB radios will start arriving to fill orders placed from April, and Audi has also promised official DAB retrofit options for owners of older business cars from the summer. The A8 saloon is already fitted with digital radio as standard.
