How does the Tesla Model S fare as a company car?

“Though the monthly salary sacrifice payments are a little higher, it’s actually costing me less overall.”

Are there any other savings of note that you’re making with the Tesla Model S as your company car then Min? “The other savings I make are the 0% road tax and 0% congestion charge, plus the fact that electricity is much cheaper than petrol or diesel.  I was previously spending over £200 a month on fuel and now it’s less than a tenner if I’m charging at home, or free when I use the public charging points,” grins Min.

So you’ve had your Tesla a couple of months now, how are you getting on with it? “I’m getting used to people asking me questions about the car, like ‘excuse me sir, why have you got a cable going into the side of your car?”, to ‘I’ve only seen this car on YouTube!’

Min hasn’t limited his driving to the city either, venturing to Leicester in his Model S for the Easter bank holiday. As expected, the traffic on the way home was very much stop start, still, this didn’t worry Min, as he kept himself busy trying out the adaptive cruise control on the M1. “As the cars slowed, the car just braked for me. No more sudden stabbing the brake at the last minute. It is like the car is my guardian angel, looking after me, making sure I am always in range of a charge, as well as making sure I don’t stray from my lane and checking my blind spots  for me”, he added.

So from the heart and the head, Min has totally fallen for his Tesla. “I know it’s been the best decision I’ve made, and it’s brought the biggest smile to my face every day I go to work in the City.” No small praise indeed.
