CPD Bodies £1m expansion
- 5.6 acres new development to extend facilities to 14 acres on Teeside

COMMERCIAL vehicle body builder CPD Bodies has announced plans for £1m expansion with two new workshops and secure storage over the course of the next three months.
Once finished, it will stand at over 14 acres in total, creating the largest independent pre-build and pre-delivery facility in the UK.
The business will see a new state-of-the-art 6,000 square foot workshop built specifically to cope with Luton bodied chassis demand, while an extra workshop on an acre of land next to the firm’s existing facility will be developed to house increasing demand for more specialised and bespoke chassis conversions.
To complete the expansion programme, a further 4.6 acres of land have been added to enhance their already substantial asset storage and completed build space.
Speaking on the proposed expansion programme, CPD managing director Cathal Doocey said: “This investment comes as the result of unprecedented demand for our range of 3.5t chassis based conversions and specialist lightweight bodies.
“We currently produce over 2,500 chassis per annum and employ 120 people. By reinvesting back into the business with additional preparation, production and finishing facilities, aligned to additional secure storage, it will enable us to scale even further our already substantial production and build capacity.”

The business builds light commercial vehicle bodies for all of the major manufacturers, leasing and rental providers as well as many of the large corporates and small to mid-sized enterprises.
This month, the company was one of the first in the UK to be recognised by Ford as part of their QVM programme and Cathal was delighted with this endorsement for his business.

The business will also invest heavily in IT by continuing to develop its build and visibility software platform, CPD Online, reinforcing its position as an industry leader from a drive, ambition and innovation perspective.
It is expected that the overall programme will create around 20 additional jobs on Teesside.
