If it’s not a manager’s core responsibility, running a small fleet is increasingly onerous

Company vehicle supply

Stuart says that CBVC not only sources the vehicles, but manages them too.

“CBVC deals with the whole process when it comes to sourcing the vehicle and they make sure that we get a good deal.

“The terms that they get are very keen, mainly due to their buying power and the relationships that they have built up with their suppliers and finance companies over the years.

“In addition, we work with our account manager at CBVC regarding our requirements and they provide a list of suitable vehicles for presentation directly to our employee. They take it from there; all I have to do once the decision has been made is sign it off.”

Fleet management taken care of

CBVC is also tasked with managing the day-to-day running of the Deritend Group’s fleet. Administration duties surrounding the running of the company cars are all taken care of, including:

  • Monitoring of driving licences;
  • Keeping of mileage records;
  • Accident management;
  • Regular necessary reporting.

Why it works for us

Stuart views the arrangement that the Deritend Group has with CVBC as highly beneficial. He told us:

“We didn’t feel that our small fleet warranted the cost of employing an in-house fleet manager.

“CBVC offers a comprehensive fleet management package; we know that we are getting a good deal and we are also safe in the knowledge that the running of our vehicles is dealt with professionally.

“If we were to deal with numerous different leasing companies and work with a separate fleet management company, it would be far too time consuming.

“We have had a thirteen year relationship with our chosen supplier and they have rewarded us with good cost savings and an excellent level of service; we have no intention of changing the way we run our fleet any time soon.”
