NOW YOU can drive with the wind in your hair…and not worry about the pounds in your pocket. And even if a hatchback is more your style, then you’ll still be saving.
That’s because Audi is continuing its programme of low emission model upgrades. Joining the newly announced Audi A3 1.6 TDI model (see Audi smashes capital allowances barrier) is the higher power 140PS 2.0-litre TDI.
This model now features engine start-stop and energy recuperation technology. The new 2.0 TDI engine will be available in Audi A3 three-door, five-door Sportback and Cabriolet variants. Audi claims CO2 reductions of up to 20g/km. All A3 manual models now qualify for the 13% company car tax band.
The new start-stop common rail diesel engine provides the following fuel consumption benefits.
- A3 2.0 TDI hatchback manual economy up from 55.4mpg to 64.2mpg; emissions cut from 134g/km to 115g/km
- A3 2.0 TDI Sportback 2.0 TDI manual economy up from 55.4mpg to 64.2mpg; emissions cut from 134g/km to 115g/km
- A3 2.0 TDI Cabriolet manual economy up from 53.3mpg to 61.4mpg; emissions cut from 139g/km to 119g/km
In terms of company car taxation, the A3 2.0 TDI moves from an 18% company car tax banding to the lowest diesel band of 13%.
The Audi A3 2.0 TDI 140PS 3dr and 5dr Sportback range is now priced from £18,860 to £23,630; the A3 2.0 TDI 140PS Cabriolet range from £22,635 to £26,865.
Other fuel-saving Audi A3 models include the 1.6 TDI model (109g/km CO2) and 1.4 TFSI petrol (132g/km CO2).
