The Ford Focus ST
The Ford Focus ST is Europe’s top-selling hatch – for now

FORD’S Focus ST was Europe’s best-selling hot hatchback in the final quarter of last year. The Focus grabbed 44 per cent of all sales in the segment, easily beating the Golf GTI (33 per cent) and the Renault Megane Sport (12 per cent) – that’s according to data provided by the research firm Polk.

The Focus ST is also the top-selling hot hatch in the UK, where it offers 250PS performance in return for a P11D value of £20,200 and a monthly tax bill of £86 for a lower rate taxpayer (2012/13).

Another bonus – the Focus ST is available in estate form, so business car drivers who need to lug a lot of stuff around as part of their work need not miss out on all the fun.

But the Focus ST may not retain its sales crown for long; Volkswagen has just announced a new Golf GTI, and the Ford’s own Fiesta is now available in a new, rapturously received Fiesta ST version as well.
