COULD the Mercedes GLA SUV be feeling the heat from BMW’s baby X, the X1? Well if they are, the German rival could have solved this problem with the facelifted 2017 Mercedes GLA that made its debut at the Detroit show in America.

Outside, the GLA gets new bumpers and wheels which certainly give this Mercedes a more rugged look the designers were looking for.

Inside to continue the new look, there are revised seat upholstery options, chrome details, chrome panel switches and redesigned instruments.

Standard kit is also upgraded, with all models getting keyless go and Apple CarPlay. Prices now start at £25,800 for the 200 SE and first deliveries start in April.

Facelifted 2017 Mercedes GLA adds two special editions

New looks and new equipment for the 2017 Mercedes GLA is not the only thing business buyers can look forward to.

There are also two special  editions: WhiteArt Edition and Yellow Night Edition. So what’s on the menu with these two cars?

WhiteArt Edition

The new WhiteArt Edition is priced from £31,260 for the GLA 200 version. The special edition is based on AMG Line trim, with the addition of:

• 19-inch multi-spoke alloy wheels with a high-sheen finish;
• black leather upholstery with white and crystal grey stripes; and
• black floor mats with ‘EDITION’ lettering.

The Premium package is also standard on WhiteArt Edition models.

Yellow Night Edition

The GLA 45 4MATIC Yellow Night Edition (pictured above) is priced from £53,135. Standard features include:

• AMG aerodynamics package;
• AMG Night package;
• 20-inch AMG 10-spoke alloy wheels with yellow-painted rims;
• bodystyling with painted yellow details (on diffuser, rear wing and mirror housings);
• cosmos black metallic paint;
• Keyless-Go Comfort package;
• AMG performance steering wheel in Nappa leather and Dinamica microfibre with ‘EDITION’ lettering; and
• upholstery in Artico leather and Dinamica with yellow highlight stripes.
