Higher ground clearance and proper 4WD give the Skoda Octavia Scout more than just cosmetic offroad credentials

SKODA has released the first pictures of the 4WD Octavia Scout crossover, which is expected to make its debut at next month’s Geneva Motor Show.

The Scout is based on the Octavia Combi estate. Thanks to raised suspension, the Scout has 33mm more ground clearance than the standard model.

Chunkier looks come courtesy of big black bumpers and rubbing strips, a wider air intake and distinctive fog lamps. Seventeen-inch alloys are standard.

The all-wheel-drive system uses a Haldex-5 coupling, which gives better traction than the set-up in the previous Octavia Scout.

Skoda says there will be a choice of two diesel engines and one petrol. There are no further details but the company says these new powertrains will be 20 per cent more economical than before.
