EUROPA is a building and facilities management group that first started working with Fleet Alliance two years ago. The company has around 4000 employees and a combined car and commercial vehicle fleet of 350 vehicles.

Initially Fleet Alliance was appointed to source all new vehicles for Europa. It was a decision based on the effectiveness of the ‘e-fleet’ online fleet management system, and Fleet Alliance’s ability to reduce acquisition costs.

Recently, 135 vans were replaced in a single order – 71 Citroen Berlingos, 39 Citroen Dispatches and 25 Astra estates.

Now Europa has made the decision to outsource all of its fleet management operation to Fleet Alliance. A 3 year contract has been signed that will see the replacement of the entire vehicle fleet.

Under the agreement, Fleet Alliance will take on all the day-to-day admin for the Europa fleet, including invoicing, licence checking, dealing with motoring offences, insurance updates, and all servicing and damage repair.

Europa’s company car and van drivers will be supported too, with the introduction of a new starter process, handling all driver queries, mileage recording, and the allocation of tax discs.

Fleet Alliance will supply hire cars when necessary, and manage Europa’s existing legacy fleet and 70 ‘grey’ fleet vehicles.

How will it work?

Europa’s vans all operate on 3 year/60,000 mile contract hire; the company cars are on 3 year contracts too but with variable mileage to avoid excess mileage charges.

Fleet Alliance will use competitive tendering through a panel of preferred lenders, a process which has demonstrated an 8-10% in new vehicle acquisition costs.

Fleet Alliance’s service levels and their ability to reduce costs have been big factors in our decision

The key to the management of the fleet is the ‘e-fleet’ management system which allows the whole fleet to be managed from one central point, and produces an extensive suite of reports that allows any aspect of the fleet’s operation to be monitored.

Greig Brown, Europa’s chief executive, said, “Following a very successful two-year relationship, we are pleased to extend our arrangement with Fleet Alliance to fully outsourced fleet management across our entire fleet.

“Fleet Alliance’s service levels and their ability to reduce costs have been big factors in our decision to extend the relationship. Using Fleet Alliance means we no longer have to predict our future fleet needs, while their astute approach maximises the potential of our fleet and achieves full value for money.”

Fleet Alliance’s MD Martin Brown said, “Naturally, we are delighted to have been selected by Europa to provide fully outsourced fleet management for its fleet throughout the UK.

“We are confident that, by employing the range of systems and solutions we have at our disposal, we will be able to continue to drive considerable efficiencies right across the fleet and generate significant cost savings in a number of key areas.”
