3. An improved all-round drive
Engineers have retuned the Focus’ chassis, making changes to the suspension geometry, dampers and electric power steering system.
That’s all with the aim of keeping the Focus feeling nimble and exciting but the more noticeable changes will probably come with respect to refinement. Ford has fitted sound-insulating glass, thicker carpets and better seals to help keep the noise down at high speeds.
4. New technology
Ford has fitted its latest SYNC infotainment system to the facelifted Focus, which offers improved voice commands and more sat nav functionality.
Now, drivers can press a button and shout out a house number, street name and city all in one go.
You can also say things like “I’m hungry”, which will bring up suggestions for local restaurants.
The sat nav system itself now comes with clearer instructions for navigating junctions and can read out UK street names for the first time.
5. Styling
Ford’s styling team has gone to town on the exterior, applying the Aston Martin-inspired grille of the updated Ford Focus and forthcoming Mondeo for a more premium look.
That’s clearly the most obvious change but there are also new, sharper headlights and a redesigned bonnet, featuring more obvious creases. There are a few more alloy wheel design for buyers to choose from and you can get two new shades of blue as well.
Thanks to a set of smaller taillights and a few changes to the rear styling, the back of the Focus doesn’t look quite as awkward as it previously has.
