FORD is gearing up to launch a high-speed RS version of the current Focus.
The new car follows in the footsteps of the RS variants of previous Focus models which were designed to provide a harder-edged driving experience than the mainstream ST-badged high performance Focuses.
There are no further details of the Focus RS, but Ford says it will be one of twelve new high-performance models to be introduced by 2020, and that it will be offered worldwide for the first time as part of the company’s “One Ford” policy of offering most of its cars globally.
In addition to the new Ford Focus RS, Ford also announced the formation of a new unified Ford Performance organisation bringing together the previously separate Team RS, Ford SVT, and Ford Racing operations globally.
