THERE is absolutely nothing wrong with a little aspiration. The number of successful businesses in the UK surely means there are at least one or two individuals perfectly placed to enjoy the new Ferrari Portofino.

It wouldn’t really be a motor show without something exquisite, and visitors to the Frankfurt Motor Show are revelling in this latest Ferrari Grand Tourer.

The Ferrari Portofino is the new V8 GT, the most powerful convertible to combine the advantages of a retractable hard top, a roomy boot and generous cockpit space complete with two rear seats suitable for short trips.

The V8 engine produces around 590bhp that will accelerate the Portofino to 125mph in just ten seconds – the same time the average car needs to reach 60mph. In fact, there are some cars that take longer to reach the national speed limit than it does to operate the retractable metal roof on the Portofino – 14 seconds if you must know.

The new Ferrari Portofino is an aggressively-styled car that adds extra sleekness to its silhouette, lending it a sportier character without impinging on its elegance and dynamism.

At the edges of the large central radiator grille are two side air intakes for the intercoolers. The vents in the bonnet are larger and further apart to evacuate heat from the engine compartment without impacting occupant comfort with the top down. The front of the car is also underscored by a new headlight assembly with a more horizontal development which is designed to follow the crest line of the front wheel arches.

One signature characteristic of any Ferrari car is the meticulous care lavished on the selection of the interior materials and trim. New seats designed for exceptional comfort, reduced cabin noise even with the top down, and Ferrari’s instrument panel and dual TFT displays arranged around the rev counter in a generous circular anti-glare binnacle on exactly the same axis as the multifunctional steering wheel.

It’s a Ferrari so it is always going to be a bit special.

More importantly though, the new Ferrari Portofino is actually a properly pretty Ferrari and we haven’t seen one of those for a while.
