Buyers: choose low mpg vans on CO2 database

New Van CO2 and Fuel Consumption database

Van buyers can now find out which vans are cheaper to run on fuel.

A new database shows the CO2 emissions and fuel efficiency of vans on the market.

CO2 emissions are directly linked to fuel economy: the lower the emissions, the higher the fuel economy.

“This database is good news for van buyers – it gives them access to emissions and fuel consumption information that could well shape the van they choose, as well as enable them to cut emissions and save money,” commented new Transport Secretary, Andrew Adonis.

The government wants to cut CO2 emissions. But with vans making up 15% of road transport emissions in the UK, van emissions have been rising at the highest rate of any road vehicle.

The government hopes the new Van CO2 and Fuel Consumption database will assist van operators to choose vans which emit less CO2.
