BMW is hoping its latest drop-top, the 2 Series Convertible, can match the success of the Series 1 ragtop that scored sales of more than 130,000 world-wide.

It’s the third model in the company’s 2 Series line-up and is a direct replacement for the 1 Series Convertible.

The new car will be available with a choice of four engines, including a new 2.0-litre diesel for the 220d and, for the first time in a BMW convertible, an M Performance variant, the M235i.

Fuel economy improvements over the previous model average 18%

Fuel economy improvements over the previous model average 18%. The 2 Series Convertible also brings significant improvements in passenger space and access, acoustic comfort, style, dynamism and equipment, while the ConnectedDrive services for the first time include wireless updating of navigation data.

The BMW 2 Series Convertible is 72mm longer and 26mm wider than the model it replaces and has a 30mm longer wheelbase. All this means enhanced passenger access and space plus the promise of increased driving enjoyment with the roof down.
