IF you’ve noticed that fuel prices have remained relatively stable, then you’re not alone. So has HMRC.
Which means that the latest company car mileage rates – known as advisory fuel rates (AFR) – remain unchanged. Again.
The new business mileage rates for company car drivers take effect from 01 June.
These advisory fuel rates should be used to claim business mileage in a company car, or repay private mileage if all fuel is company provided in order to avoid car fuel benefit taxation.
If you run a hybrid car these are treated as if they are a petrol or diesel model depending on the powertrain used.
Rates are revised quarterly so keep an eye on this site for the next update which will take effect on 01 September.
The new company car business mileage rates are listed below.
Petrol: Company car business mileage Advisory Fuel Rates from 01 June 2014
- Engine size 1400cc or less: 14p – unchanged
- 1401cc to 2000cc: 16p – unchanged
- Over 2000cc: 24p – unchanged
Diesel: Company car business mileage Advisory Fuel Rates from 01 June 2014
- Engine size 1600cc or less: 12p – unchanged
- 1601cc to 2000cc: 14p – unchanged
- Over 2000cc: 17p – unchanged
