Honda Accord Tourer Sport road test report

Honda Accord Tourer 2.2i-CTDi Sport

Honda Accord Tourer 2.2i-CTDi Sport + HFT and SatNav

What is it?

Estate Tourer version of Honda Accord saloon. Straight-edged box styling to rear gives plenty of carrying room if perhaps less lifestyle appeal than rivals. Fitted with Honda’s award-winning diesel engine.

What’s hot?

  • Easy, languid pull from diesel engine
  • Can also turn on the pace when required
  • Low company car benefit-in-kind tax rating
  • Clever and practical one action fold down rear seats
  • Electric open/shut operation of tailgate
  • Quiet and smooth engine
  • Well-built, well-finished interior
  • Hands Free Telephone and SatNav equipped
  • Three-year/90,000 warranty, although you’re unlikely to need it

What’s not?

  • Quietness of engine emphasises road tyre noise
  • Tyre thump over potholes penetrates cabin
  • Choppy, restless ride on motorways
  • Awkward usability of standard Hands Free Telephone system

Verdict

The Honda Accord Tourer is beginning to age against new rivals – and an all-new Accord Tourer is scheduled for launch in September 2008 – but the Accord Tourer still stacks up as a good-looking and sporting hold-all for business users. With its low-emission engine, it‚’s also low-tax, too – and there’s likely to be some end of model deals available.

  • Engine 2.2-litre four-cylinder turbo diesel
  • CO2 emissions 155g/km
