Honda CRV NCAP
The new CR-V makes six Hondas with 5-star NCAP test results

THE new Honda CR-V has been awarded the maximum five stars in the stringent Euro NCAP crash tests.

It makes the Honda CR-V one of the safest company cars on sale in the UK.

Business car managers looking for a robust, dependable and safe car for their SME fleets should look no further than the current Honda range: there are no fewer than six five-star cars including the Accord, Insight, Jazz, CR-Z, Civic and CR-V.

The new CR-V’s top rating puts it on a par with the Mazda CX-5 and Toyota RAV4 in the small 4×4 SUV class, and well ahead of models like the Dacia Duster and Jeep Compass in terms of safety.

Systems such as Vehicle Stability Assist with Traction Control, Electric Power Steering and an Emergency Stop System that activates the brakes when it senses an accident is imminent, all contributed to the top score.

Honda CR-V
With the imminent arrival of Honda’s frugal new 1.6-litre diesel, the CR-V is beginning to look very attractive to business car drivers looking for a small 4X4

Lane Keeping Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control and a clever Collision Mitigation Braking System are also available to reassure drivers that should the worst happen, the car is designed to cope.

All this innovative safety tech will soon be available with Honda’s frugal 1.6-litre i-DTEC diesel engine, along with two-wheel drive and a manual gearbox for CO2 emissions of just 119g/km. This means the Honda CR-V 1.6 i-DTEC is subject to just 18% BIK company car tax in the 2013-14 tax year, increasing to 19% next year.

The 120PS diesel engine gets 300Nm of torque so the CR-V is not only a safe, but an entertaining choice for company car drivers. The low emissions and high mpg should mean running costs are low, too.

The new Honda CR-V is on sale now, with the economical 1.6-litre diesel engine joining the line-up in the autumn.
