FAST Honda Civic fans won’t have long to wait for a performance range-topper, with the wraps off Honda Civic Type-R – the new  316bhp hatch – at the Geneva Motor Show.

At the heart of the new Type-R is a 2.0-litre VTEC Turbo, boasting 316bhp, with peak torque of 400Nm, running through six-speed manual transmission.

However, the big change over the current outgoing model is the adoption of adaptive dampers and a choice of driving modes.

Outside, like the last Type-R, you won’t miss this car, although the back of this new Civic is the most distinctive with the large rear spoiler and the distinctive triple exhaust system.

The new Civic Type-R will go on sale this summer, with prices announced closer to the on-sale date.
