BRISTOL-based Bluepoppy Vehicle Solutions has kicked off 2016 on a high, with the first two months’ business matching 58% of last year’s total.

Managing director Andrew Starr said: “It’s a fantastic start to the year – we’re looking to treble last year’s business to 500 units by year-end and rise to 1,000 vehicles by 2017.

“To achieve that we’re recruiting additional sales and admin staff, and we’re all working hard and enjoying it.

“In addition we are in our second year of being a new Leasing Broker Member of the BVRLA and just had our first audit, scoring an impressive 100%.”

While Bluepoppy has its national business goals, it is also tuned in to the local sporting scene, as an associate member of Bristol Sports’ Lansdown Club which includes a networking group.

Through this link the Bluepoppy logo features in every match day programme for Bristol City Football Club and Bristol Rugby and there are other attractions such as discounts on advertising and hospitality and access to corporate facilities.

The Lansdown group is restricted to fewer than 200 local and national businesses  with exclusive benefits also including two high profile networking events a year and Andrew says involvement is paying dividends.

He explains: “There are monthly networking breakfast meetings with keynote speakers such as explorer Ranulph Fiennes, World Cup rugby player Lewis Moody, legendary skier Eddie the Eagle, sporting executive and politician Karren Brady, and so on.”

Keeping Bluepoppy’s profile high, the company has already provided Bristol Sports’ basketball team with a branded vehicle and has engaged with Bristol Rugby and Bristol City Women’s Football Club where they are in the throws of finalising additional branded vehicles.

Andrew adds: “The Lansdown Club is a unique business membership club which inspires business growth through the power of sport and there is no doubt that there are common attributes in sport and business that are beneficial – it’s proving quite productive!”
