ZENITH has appointed commercial director Ian Hughes as managing director of the business.

Ian steps into a role that has not existed currently at Zenith.

However, without an official statement from Zenith, we presume Tim Buchan, the chief executive officer, will take a more strategic role allowing Ian to look after the daily running of the company.

In January this year, Zenith was sold to private equity group Bridgepoint for £750m from capital venture group HgCapital.

The company then followed up by acquiring Contract Vehicles Holdings to place. Zenith is currently rated seventh in the FN50 with a fleet size of over 58,000.

Ian Hughes first joined Zenith in November 2010 as commercial director, before taking on this new role. Prior to Zenith Ian held roles at Citroen (head of fleet and remarketing and then marketing director) and Honda (national fleet manager).
